~ Here are some more pictures from Kristine's camera~ I really do need to get my camera fixed so that I don't have to constantly mooch off of K-Tino's photo collection Oh well, this'll do for now~
Me, K-Tino, and Katy at Blakely's birthday bash outside Hula Hut~
Enjoying the afternoon at A&M's BYX Island Party~
I suppose this is going to pretty much be a Kristine and Kaitlin page....
Chillaxin' and yawning on a blanket at UT's Island Party, listening to Dave Barnes,
Yeah, his voice is pretty great! The boy can sing. I especially enjoyed the swooning female fans lined up in front of the stage screaming "Dave, oh Dave, you are so amazing!" They definitely provided amusement to accompany the music. Thankfully, he's used to that sort of thing. He knew just how to handle the crowd and make em swoon some more Yes, very amusing.
Jars of Clay,
LeCrae,
and,
WIDEAWAKE!!
It really was quite a delightful afternoon. I loved seeing friends that I haven't touched base with in a while. The only problem with an event like island party, is that I saw so many of my favorite people that I'd love to just sit down one-on-one and visit with, but it's just impossible when all you have time for when friends are passing left and right is the standard 'hi,how are you?" and "fine, you?" shpeeel(sp?). I am so excited that summer is so near. I can't wait to have free time/catch-up time. This semester is such a blur~ so many activities, people, events,.... you know. It's just flown by. I wish I could take a Zack Morris 'time out' on life and sit back and reflect on the past few months. I don't know if it's the end of school work or if this fresh spring air is getting to me, but I'm feeling very nostalgic tonight.
I leave you with a good one~
I think she's a bit, um, confused maybe~ha ha, i love kristine!

| Evenin' Folks~
Golly, what a productive day! I got an early start and had a fantastic quiet time on our balcony as the sun rose. I love being up at that hour, especially when I'm the only one awake in our apartment~the morning was completely my own and so peaceful. It was great meditating on Ephesians as the birds sang their morning song.
Yeah, the beautiful morning turned into a gorgeous day. And my work load has been conveniently light this week. Since I've done my fair share of playing outside the past couple of days, I thought I'd get to work on my to-do list:
*Downloaded pics from Kristine's webshots:
The birthday boy, Matt Mathern and K-Tino at the Clay Pitt~
Me, Kristine, Tara, Mercy, Tron(CHris), and Derek all celebrating Matt's big day while dining on the Clay Pitt's yummy Indian cuisine~
Strikin' a pose with Miss Liza Binkley.
*took my car to an auto electrician and found out that I don't need a new starter~ all i needed was a new battery and battery hold-down clamp. Mine was missing and apparently without one of those your car could hit a bump, the battery could get loose, and the hood of your car could catch on fire~ Ahh! Praise God for Beck Auto Electric~ I don't think I'd enjoy that whole fire bit.
*I experienced Yoga for the first time today. Bikram, to be exact. Wow, what a sweaty class. They keep the room temperature at around 95 degrees to help you release all of the negative chemicals in your body, or something like that. I think every pore on my bod did a bit of leaking in that room. It definitely was relaxing though, and I already feel more flexible and at least 1 foot taller
*did a few loads of laundry, went to a few classes, and met with a study group.
* The good stuff: ~had a really great conversation with Tara last night, and Amanda tonight. We talked about the concept of being "In Love" with God and how exciting it is when you've just read something so incredible in the word that seems to have been written specifically for what's going on in your life at that very moment or when you're in such amazing worship or prayer time with God that you get giddy with excitement. We talked about how easy it is to have that butterflies in your stomache feeling when in love, or even when in 'like' with a boy, and how we should constantly be seeking to experience that giddiness with God. Such a wonderful feeling~ why wouldn't I want to constantly be seeking to have that? Gosh, I throw away so much of this fantastic gift we have been given, and for what? I don't even know...
Shoot, I'm inspired. I want to be giddy once again. It's on! Tomorrow morning I have a date with the sunrise and the man upstairs. I'm not holding anything back from my true love!
take care now | | |
| Hello, hello, hello! So, this weekend was quite enjoyable. It all began with Thursday night~ * I left my Pei Wei feast and went to EV Free for worship practice and a fabulous book discussion on A.W. Tozer's "Whatever Happend to Worship?" After rehearsal, Chris broke out his base with some sick Indi-rock tunes and led us all into an hour-long indi-rock jam session~ twas fun~ I absolutely still want to learn to play guitar, I mean, if that whole accordian thing doesn't work out
* Amanda came over late thursday night and the future roomies chewed the fat for a couple of hours:) ~A few weeks before Spring break, Amanda and I decided to be roomies next year at the chi-o house. I have lived with Tara for the past two years and loved pretty much every minute of the experience. The two of us just thought it'd be fun to try something new, so we are.~ Amanda and I did a bit of Matamoras reminiscing and just talked about how amazing it was that God placed us in the same work group that week. I'm so thankful for that week of bonding and now super-psyched for next semester! *Friday night, I drove to Kyle's lakehouse on Clearlake in Houston. Gosh, what a gorgeous place! Lyndsey, Jeremy, Brad, Kyle, and Erica arrived a couple of hours b4 me, for I had to stay late in a-town for my children's theatre rehearsal. Yeee! We first stuffed ourselves silly on Mrs. Beard's mean burgers and franks and a heavenly apple/mountainDew dish. Then Cap'n Kyle took us for a ride in the boat over to the Kemah boardwalk. We walked around the Disney-like town square for a while, and took some fun pics with a sword fish and whale. That's right, a sword fish and whale.
* Had a blast at kyle's and headed to Sugar Land Saturday afternoon. My mom and sis were at a friend's confirmation all day Saturday, so I got to spend some quality time with my dad and be a good son, yeah...son:) He had a 'real' man's day planned: ~pump iron; barbeque lunch; game of golf; see the movie "Sahara," a take-off of the Clive Cussler novels about the adventures of Dirk Pitt, the brave navy seal/explorer ~This movie will make every guy think twice before taking an office job, and confirm all descriptions of boys in Eldredge's "Wild at Heart." We began our guy time at the driving range. I was of course delighted to dress in proper golf attire and sport my polo for the occasion, but not so thrilled about the actual golfing. My dad was incredibly patient though. In fact, he was great and gave me my own private lesson. After a few whifs, and what I call "gutter-balls," my dad brought out his pride and joy, Big Birtha, and let me have a go. I don't think I've ever enjoyed the game of golf until the moment I got to swing this magnificent club. Resembling a caveman's mallot, this monstrous club makes the most fantastic crack sound upon contact. I really just love it too because no matter where you swing, the head is so huge that it's impossible to not smack the poo outta the ball. ~ ahhh, three blisters and two sore shoulders later, I can actually say I enjoy golf. I am still horrible at my short-game, but I do love that Birtha.
*I went to church this morn with the fam and we went to our favorite bagel place on the way home. Haven't been there in so long~ ahh, highschool memories! *I got to test out the fabulous Lifetime fitness this afternoon. It really is an outstanding place! I've never seen so many cardio machines in one room! And the Kidszone and climbing wall are just so great! I just got my confirmation letter about my summer job at Baker BOtts Law Firm , which, after seeing LTF,might cause me to reconsider. I just think I'd love being a day camp counselor at lifetime instead. I just don't know what to do. On the one hand, it'd be exciting to experience working in the real world, in a real job, downtown. On the other hand, I'd really love to play all day long with awesome kiddos~ for it is summer and this would be great experience for my future profession,so... I still don't know what my summer plans are. Darn. I am off to pray for direction and clarity. I'm driving back to Austin tomorrow morn at 6am for class. Give me a ring if you're up early. I'd love to share the sunrise and open road with you! TCN~

| Wow, what a great night! I'll share a bit with you before I hit the hay~
* It began with a life-partner double-date, participants including the Rodan/Amanda combo and the Tara/Kaitlin special.
~Now let me clarify before anyone gets the wrong idea. Tara and I have been roommates/best buds/such gosh darn good friends and so nearly inseparable that people refer to us as life-partners #1.
~Rodan and Amanda, at the beginning of this school year, bonded instantly, and have been attached at the hip ever since~ aka life-partners #2.
*Anyhoo, we were Hown-graaaaaayyyy and ventured out to 38th St. to dine on rice and Mongolian shrimp, the fine cuisine of PF Chang's ever-so-popular chain, Pei Wei. We then caught eachother up on the latest distractions in our lives such as books, movies, Asia(East to be a bit more specific, but that's as far as I go), Austin outings, summer plans, and that's about it....
yeah right, just kidding~ Boys might have been mentioned as well
*My favorite part of the meal was our post-meal fortune cookie game.
Every time you read your fortune, you have to add 'In bed' to the end. uh, so my fortune cookie was empty. What's that supposed to mean?
*There's more to tonight that is worth mentioning, well, worth it to me, but I'm oh so very sleepy. My eyeslids or gettin so heavy that I think I could fall asleep right here at my computer. And since I don't really want to wake up with a keyboard indention across my face, though that would be kind of amazingly awesome, I shall continue tomorrow.
| LOVE is in the air, ooo-ooo, ooo-ooo, ooo-ooo, ooo...LOVE is in the air~
Today has been quite a love-filled day. Though not personally involved in the romance, I was able to live vicariously through these wonderful moments:
1.) Tonight we had another candle-lighting ceremony after our Chi-O meeting. This is a Chi Omega tradition and the way the entire chapter is informed that one of our girls is engaged. We all stand in a circle, turn off the lights, and sing "Chi-O Sweet Heart, Mine," and pass around a candle in the middle of a bouquet of flowers with a ribbon attached holding the beloved engagement ring. The fun part is that no one knows who is engaged until the ring makes a few laps around the circle. On the third lap, the newly engaged girl blows out the candle and everyone screams with excitement. Fabulous! Tonight, a senior, Sarah Petkovek, blew out the candle. She then stood on a chair in the middle of the room and related how her sweetheart proposed. Then she told us the top 10 reasons why she loves him. *Her number 1 reason was outstanding~ tears poured out of her eyes as she said she just loves him so much and never thought anyone could love her as much as he does. Oh, it was fantastic!! Everyone sighed in a unison, "Aaaaaaaaaaawe," just like the classic episod of Full House when Jessie proposeS to Becky. Tear!
2.) Later on tonight I talked to my Bible study leader, Victoria, on the phone. She too is recently engaged. It was great hearing about all of her wedding plans: wedding location, dress, cake, L.G.N.(Look Good Necked) diet, and so on. We laughed talking about the weirdness that everyone not only knows their wedding date, but the date is also set for what comes after the wedding~ dare I say it...
!SEX!
ha ha, and everyone including her grandmother~ahhhhh!
Just kidding to the ah, it's all part of God's plan, and even Victoria's Granny understands the inevitable facts.
Victoria did talk about what a struggle it is right now for her and her fiance to wait for the big night. They are so close to uniting as one for the rest of their lives, and soo very excited, that impure thoughts are forever on the brain. She said that what makes things a bit easier is knowing of the future joys she anticipates in giving herself in purity to her husband on their wedding day.
She recommended reading the book Wait for Me, by Rebecca St. James, a book I actually read a few years ago when the song by R.St.J. was on the radio. The book has great stories about friendships, dating, relationships, sex, and marriage!
"Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn, the justice of your cause like noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out wicked schemes." (Ps. 37:3-7 NIV)
I love this verse~ mmm, tis a good one! And it applies to so many facets of life like the future in general, not just marriage.
3.) Since my roomies and I got to witness such a wonderfully romantic Chi-O moment, we were of course in the mood for a great love story and topped the evening off with the great Moulin Rouge! Love it!!
SO, I realize that anyone reading this entry will forever think I am a bit obsessed with love and marriage. Let me set the record straight and say that yes, I am pretty much in love with LOVE!
I mean, after all, love is a many splendid thing, and it sure does lift us up where we belong, for all you need is love!
But I also realize that I am very, very far from something as serious as marriage. While I enjoy hearing about the fluff stuff of wedding planning, I cannot even begin to think of something that serious for me right now.
~Praise God for knowing that! Before I begin planning the rest of my life, I think I will focus on today, maybe a bit on tomorrow, and perhaps even this weekend If and when the big man upstairs is ready, perhaps he'll send Prince Charming my way, and well, you know...I'm ok with that Happily ever after thing if He is
